New York artist and author Michael Albert is coming to the Olathe Indian Creek Library on Wednesday, June 24.  Albert is an artist who makes his collage art using recycled materials, like cereal boxes and other cardboard packaging.  He creates large-scale collages based on various themes, including historical, literary, mathematical, biblical, etc.  His book An Artist's America features different examples of his work.  This summer he will be visiting libraries, museums, and other venues on a 10 state tour.  The Olathe Library Public is very excited to be one of his destinations!

On Wednesday, June 24 at 6:00 p.m. Michael Albert will be doing an evening program for 1st - 5th graders and their parents (no younger or older siblings please) at the Indian Creek Library.  He will talk about his art and his book and then guide everyone in a collage-making activity.  The program will last about two hours.  Each child attending the program will receive a free autographed poster of one of the artist's collages.  Registration is required for this program and begins this Friday, June 19.  You may register online or by calling (913) 971-6874.  Please register only children; parents can just tag along.
