Fizz Boom Read!

School is out for the summer, but things are just heating up at the Olathe Public Library!  Our summer reading program theme is Fizz Boom Read!  We will be celebrating science and reading all summer long.

We have started handing out summer reading folders to keep track of your summer reading.  You may pick up a folder at the Children's Services Desk at either the Main Library or the Indian Creek Branch anytime all summer.  Just keep track of all the reading you do over the summer and return your folder between July 28 - August 13 to receive a free paperback book.  We will be giving out stickers of the week for your folder beginning on June 2.  And Find Fido Fridays begin on May 30!

Our Summer Reading Kick-Off will be on Tuesday, May 27 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Frontier Park (Black Bob Rd. & Indian Creek Pkwy.).  This is another place where you can pick up a summer reading folder.  There will be a variety of fun activities going on.  The Lenexa Sertoma Club will also be selling hot dogs and drinks as a fundraiser for a hearing loop to be installed for the hearing impaired in the Indian Creek Branch meeting room.  Bring some money if you'd like to buy a snack and support this good cause.  The Olathe Noon Optimists will be providing free water again this year too.  You can also learn about the library's summer reading programs for teens and adults at the Kick-Off.  It will be a fun time for all ages.  NOTE:  In case of rain, the Kick-Off will be cancelled.  Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!
