Winter/Spring Storytimes


The library offers storytimes for 3 - 5 year olds at various times during the week.  Winter/Spring storytimes run from January 21 through April 24.  Registration is required.  We also offer a Family Storytime on Tuesday evenings which does not require registration.   Click here for more information and the complete schedule of times and locations.


Time for Two is a one-on-one storytime for 2 year olds with a caring adult.  Sessions are offered at both libraries at different times.  Registration is required.  Click here for more information and the complete schedule of times and locations


Rhyme Time is an interactive language-enrichment program (not a traditional storytime) for children aged 12 to 24 months with a caring adult.  Sessions are offered at both library locations.  No registration required, but space is limited.   Click here for more information and the complete schedule of times and locations.

RAISING A READER - 6 BY 6 EARLY LITERACY SKILLS - For ages 5 & younger with adult

Wednesdays, January 29 - April 30 
10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the Indian Creek Branch
  There will be no Raising a Reader on March 12 and March 19.

Ready, set, grow a reader! Bring your young children to our meeting room to help grow their pre-reading skills as you interact together with educational toys and books. No registration. Come and go as you please.

READ TO A DOG - For young readers of all ages

Saturday, April 19
1:30 - 2:30 p.m. at the Main Library

Children of all ages may drop by the library and read to a cuddly canine between 1:30 and 2:30 on the dates listed above. Come to the Children's Desk upon arrival and check in for a reading time. Reading sessions are limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. No advanced registration necessary. For more information, call (913) 971-6874. Trained therapy dogs provided by Pets for Life, Inc.


Monday, April 21
6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Indian Creek Branch

Come play chess with a worthy opponent at our Family Chess Nights. Boards and equipment will be provided. All ages and playing levels welcome, but kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult. No registration.

LEGO DESIGN CONTEST - For K - 5th graders
*Registration required

Saturday, April 26   *Registraton begins on Monday, April 7
at the Indian Creek Community Church, 12480 S. Black Bob Road
Drop off creation:  11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Public viewing & voting:  2:30 - 3:45 p.m.
Award ceremony:  4:00 p.m.
Pick up creations by 5:00 p.m.

Love to build with LEGO bricks?  Make something awesome using your own LEGO (or compatible) bricks and enter it into our LEGO Design Contest for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade*.  You could win a Barnes & Noble gift card!  CLICK HERE to read the Contest Rules & FAQs.  Registration starts on April 7.  Space is limited; registration is required.
NOTE:  Contest will be held off-site at the Indian Creek Community Church located at 12480 S. Black Bob Road (near the Indian Creek Branch Library).
